So the temperatures have officially dipped…cold air outside….dry air…this can disrupt anyones perfect skin barrier. Dry Skin, rough knuckles, chapped lips especially for anyone who has conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
Here at Rêves, we have some tips and product recommendations that can help your skin look and feel its best throughout the next few colder months (and all year long!!).
1. MOISTURIZE YOUR FACE
Apply an emollient rich face cream before heading out in frigid temperatures or before bedtime. The Oden Hemp Botanical oil works great for those with dehydrated and irritated skin whereas the Oden Hazelnut Botanical oil works best for those who need hydrated but have combination to oily, blemished or acne-prone skin.
Tip: For severe dry skin - Seal hydration using the "slugging" technique for ultimate repair.
2. HYDRATE: BODY SKIN
Try hydrating with a body oil instead of a lotion for moisturizer. A body oil can give you an instant moisturizing effect by immediately getting absorbed unto the upper layer of the dermis. When various oils are mixed together such as in our Oden Body oil, they can be very nourishing for the skin and make the skin softer.
Body oils can also help lock in moisture especially those that contain fatty acids and ceramics that can protect the skin barrier and prevent water loss. This acts almost like aa seal on the body. Body oils can also contain antioxidants and vitamins that have repairing and protective benefits for the skin. Using a Body Oil can limit transepidermal water loss. Most oils also contain anti-inflammatory botanical oils, antioxidants and vitamins to promote smooth-looking, healthy skin.
Another perk? Body oils help maintain a radiant glow all day and can help minimize the appearance of stretch marks.
Tip: Read the Ingredient label! The skin is the largest organ on your body. Beware of artificial dyes or any other known carcinogens that may be masking in a body oil before applying.
3. SOOTH CRACKED HANDS
Keep a fast-absorbing hand cream in your bag for easy access. Smooth it on before putting on your gloves to give skin a mini treatment! Our Almond hand cream can be used for severe dryness during the day or as an overnight treatment. This fragrance-free hand cream has a light and natural scent and is ideal for those with sensitive skin.
4. BRIGHTEN A DULL COMPLEXION
Start the Day with a Vitamin C Serum like our ODEN Cosmetics Vitamin Serum by adding 2 to 3 drops in the palm of your hands, heat then massage on the entire face and neck.
Want more of an OOMPH for the day? Let Skin absorb Serum for at least 10 minutes. Follow by dabbing a creamy, pearlescent highlighter on your cheekbones, underneath your eyebrow (brow bone) and eyelids for a soft, dewy glow. Follow with a hydrating tinted balm for some added warmth like our Trew Cosmetics hydrating, pearly tinted lip balms in Cherry, Raspberry or Blueberry.
5. ADD SOME SHINE BACK INTO YOUR HAIR
Indoor heating tends to zap a lot of moisture out and dry the hair out. This sometimes leads to a dry and flaky scalp. Use a leave-in conditioner or add hair oil to your winter hair care routine to combat dryness effectively like our 2-in-1 ODEN Hair Oil. This Hair oil is blend of 5 exceptional French oils that have been specially selected to penetrate the hair fibers, deeply nourish the hair, promote hair growth and slow hair loss. Put 3-4 drops in the palm of your hand and apply to the mid-length down of your ends. This Hair oil can be doubled for a weekly scalp oil bath by applying directly to your scalp and giving yourself a gentle scalp massage with your finger tips or head massager to stimulate its microcirculation.
Tip: Tame flyaways and staticky hat hair by swiping dry hair with a dryer sheet (a hairstylist hack!) Sleep on a silk pillowcase to retain the ultimate moisture while you sleep.
